Islamic Awareness Week

All Programs

Islam Awareness Week (IAW) is a week dedicated to hosting different events to raise awareness pertaining to the muslim community. Our first event was surrounding the Uyghur Genocide, Modern Tech Genocide: Reclaiming Uyghur Identity. We had speakers come in to educate us about the genocide occuring against the Ugyhurs and inform of us different ways we can help. Our second event was the Fast-A-Thon where we had zoom sessions for both Suhoor and Iftaar. It was an opportunity for us to connect and socialize in a remote environment with one another in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan! Our third event was an educational seminar showcasing Women In Islam. In this event, we debunked myths, discussed common issues surrounding women, rediscovered inspirational role models from the past and learned about the status of women in Islam. Our fourth event was a panel showcasing Muslims in Academia. We had professors join us and speak to us about navigating educational careers while still being connected to Islam. This event gave us the wonderful opportunity to make connections and network while studying from a remote environment! Our last event was a panel discussion focusing on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Who was the Prophet (SAW)? Featuring scholars such as Hassam Munir, this discussion focused on his character, teachings, and his legacy.
